About Us

John P. Skop’s passion for swimming pools began in Tampa Bay, where he started working with local pool companies shortly after high school. While attending engineering college, John launched his own pool service business in 1994, building it door-to-door and one customer at a time. That foundation grew into a full-service pool company offering repairs, retail pool services, renovations, and eventually complete pool construction.

After more than three decades in the industry, John recognized the need for a higher standard of quality and craftsmanship. Driven by a commitment to excellence, he became a Certified Pool Contractor and founded Bay Area Pool Authority, bringing a hands-on, detail-focused approach to every project.

Today, John’s experience spans residential and commercial pool construction, renovations, and custom outdoor living spaces. Whether creating a new backyard retreat or transforming an existing pool, he approaches every project with the same level of precision, pride, and attention to detail.

Pool Authority is intentionally owner-operated. John personally oversees each project from initial planning through completion, ensuring accountability, quality, and results that meet the standards he would expect for his own home.

John and his wife, a Tampa native and graduate of the University of Miami and the University of South Florida, continue to raise their family in the Tampa Bay area and remain actively involved in the local community and Florida business community.
